I am Professor of Electronics & Nanoengineering & EPSRC Research Fellow in James Watt School of Engineering at University of Glasgow, UK. I lead Bendable Electronics & Sensing Technologies (BEST) group. I also hold Satish Dhawan Visiting Chair Professorship at Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
My multidisciplinary research interests include Flexible/Printed/Sustainable Electronics, Robotic Tactile System, Electronic Skin, Haptics, & Interactive & Wearable Systems. I have published >350 research articles in journals or peer reviewed conferences, 2 book series, 7 books and 15 submitted/granted patents and disclosures. I gave >150 keynote/invited lectures, including a TEDx talk. I have led or participated in many national/international projects worth >£50M (own share: >£20M). These include: 2 EPSRC Fellowships, EPSRC Programme Grant, 2 Newton Fellowships, 7 Marie Curie Fellowships, 4 Marie Curie Innovative Training Networks (ITN), FET-Open, & several industry projects.
I am President-Elect (2020-21) & Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Sensors Council. I am the Founding Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Journal on Flexible Electronics (J-FLEX) and have served on the Editorial Board of several leading journals. I have edited >10 Special Journal Issues & organised many international workshops & conferences. I was the Technical Program Co-Chair (TPC) of IEEE Sensors 2017 & IEEE Sensors 2018. I am the founder of IEEE UKRI section’s Sensors Council Chapter, IEEE Int. Conference on Flexible, Printable Sensors & Systems (FLEPS) & IEEE J-FLEX. I also established ‘Helping Hands‘ – a student club focussing on 3D Printed Sensitive Prosthetics.
I hold prestigious EPSRC Fellowship & received Marie Curie Fellowship & Japanese Monbusho Fellowship in past. I have received several awards/honours, including: the IEEE Sensors Council’s Technical Achievement Award, Scottish 40UNDER40 and the Microelectronic Engineering Young Investigator Award. So far, I have received 10 best paper awards as author/co-author in journals & international conferences. I am Fellow of IEEE.
